App for Live Music is Here. limelight, a live streaming music video app, is available in the App Store, for free. Android and Web App are on their way.
Enter Limelight. A virtual venue for indie and emerging artists to gain an audience while preserving the concert experience for proven headliners. Performances are broadcast live from a smartphone to a dedicated music community.
Free, Easy, and Fun. Limelight is free to use for everyone and provides a clean, intuitive interface that allows artists and venues to interact directly with their fans in a fun, gamified experience.
Money for Artists and Venues. The app helps content creators make money by providing a customizable fan club that monetizes their portfolio of past performances, all while keeping live shows totally free.
“This app is a bridge starting from the artists to a global fan base,” Limelight CEO and Founder Melanie Mandarano said. “We wanted to build a platform and a community where fans can discover, experience, and interact with artists from a concert level, something we felt was missing in the independent artist community.”
Artists Love Limelight. Developed to help artists further their careers, Limelight has been testing this app with over 200 artists, ranging from independent and emerging, to established artists. CEO and Co-Founder, Melanie Mandarano tested a beta version of the limelight with Particle Kid on tour with The Flaming Lips and The Claypool Lennon Delirium. Justin Bieber discussed the concept with COO and Founder, Michelina Mandarano, where he said he loved it and thought it was a dope idea.
During beta testing, Limelight partnered with music label HRDRV for a two-week Virtual Artist Camp that featured a Grammy Award-winning panel of producers and songwriters, which culminated in an exclusive live performance in the limelight. Singer, songwriter, producer, Gene said, “With limelight, I know going on to this app, it’s like going to a show. You come on here because you want that vibe and to be part of the community. It was as if I was in Manhattan on the lower east side hopping from Pianos to Rockwood Music Hall. You get that intimacy with good content and good people with good messages.”
R&B Soul Singer Chelsamina said, “with the limelight, it provides artists the ability to make money in the app. This app adds so much value and is really cool.” Chelsamina continues, “The main reason I love the limelight is that it’s for the artists more than for the company. Limelight is basically saying, we have this cool live stream, but this is how it can benefit you, give yourself value, and create a fanbase that’s real. Map the Music. Artists and venues can create events or sync their schedules, and events are featured on the homepage and in an interactive map that provides visibility and access to live shows across the country.
Rewards for Everyone. A point system distributed through the app will award engaged users with exclusive gifts and giveaways to keep them coming back for more.
Limelight is the Future. As a result of rapid changes in the digital age, artist revenue streams for recorded music have been in steady decline, placing the primary burden on live
concerts and tours for musicians to make money.
