ARTISTS AND CRAFTSMEN ON THE ROAD
Georgian Medieval Architectural Sculpture in Interaction with Byzantine, Persian, Seljuk, and Armenian Art which was made by the German publishing house Anton H. Konrad Verlag.
The new international publication examines the different elements of decoration in Georgian Architecture in the medieval age - on religious buildings. In the focus are angels and saints, vaults and arcades with perforated and/or carved decoration, the use of color can be seen as well. During the times an extraordinary exchange of artists and craftsmen took place, which resulted in rich decoration knowledge brought and used on the territory of Georgia.
Ten contributions of experts handle the versatile aspects of the art historical development on the base of an international colloquium held at the Ruhr-University Bochum in November 2022.
