Cyber Smart Canada is proud to announce the official launch of Cyber-Smart.ca, a new not-for-profit initiative dedicated to helping Canadian seniors navigate the digital world safely and confidently. With cybercrime increasingly targeting older adults, Cyber Smart Canada offers tailored awareness training, community outreach, and easy-to-understand resources to empower seniors against phishing, scams, identity theft, and misinformation.
As the sole content creator and founder, Jay Calvert has developed the platform with a clear mission: to close the digital literacy gap for seniors while fostering a sense of security and independence online. The site provides straightforward guides, interactive tools, and current information about the most common online threats facing older Canadians today.
To bring these resources directly to the community, Calvert is doing in-person information sessions in his community on the Sunshine Coast, British Columbia.
“These sessions are about more than just education—they’re about connection,” said Calvert. “Cyber Smart Canada is here to make sure no senior feels alone or unsure when navigating the internet. Everyone deserves to feel safe online.”
Jay Calvert is working on taking the initiative countrywide to all Senior Centres in Canada. “I would love for this to be all across Canada, partnering with Senior Centres in each community”.
