Singer-songwriter Sharmila releases four new songs worldwide today, presenting one of the most personal and meaningful releases of her musical career. “Golden Heart,” “Right and Wrong,” “Human Race,” and “No Music On Mars” each tell their own story, shaped by grief, personal experiences, artistic expression, and a deep belief in the importance of human connection.
At the heart of the release is “Golden Heart,” a deeply personal tribute to Sharmila’s daughter, Tanisha, who passed away in 2021. Sharmila wrote the song in memory of her daughter, inspired by the way she remembers Tanisha—as someone who always had a heart of gold. “Right and Wrong” ventures into more challenging social territory, exploring themes of ethics, morality, and the distinction between good and bad. The song is inspired by Sharmila’s experiences as a female artist in the Netherlands, including what she describes as censorship of her artistic expression.
