Memphis, Tennessee Dec 17, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Youth Program Still Thriving during Pandemic Needs Help
“Memphis Youth Arts Initiative is struggling to keep its program going & doors open during Holiday Season!”
Memphis Youth Arts Initiative needs to let the city know that it needs help! As a newfound nonprofit that is thriving during the pandemic, we are faced with not having enough funds to continue serving our youth without some major help and donations. Although we tried to charge minimal fees to our families for the services we provide to operate in a facility, they simply cannot afford it; therefore we know and accept that we serve a true demographic of low income and underprivileged children who are AWESOMELY TALENTED!
“Creating Leaders through Embracing the Arts” is our motto and we do just that every day we pour into our members. Recently we were featured on the front page of the Commercial Appeal (Saturday, December 5th Issue) and we are now awaiting an answer from the 2021 Presidential Inauguration Parade Committee. Any day now we will find out if we will be representing Memphis, TN in Washington, D.C. this January marching in the parade. We received recommendation letters from the Office of Marsha Blackburn in the U.S. Senate, Mason Lodges of Missouri, and from the Office of our District City Council Chair, Patrice Robinson that were all submitted with our application.
As the founder of this organization, I quit my job a little over a year ago working in education at Shelby County Schools to grow this program to great heights. We have applied to officially become a 501c3 exempt organization and I have fully self-funded this venture until I have become financially exhausted.
In this transition period of now finally being able to apply for form grants, seek government funding, and acquire major donors, we are struggling to stay afloat. We are 2 months behind in our rent, behind on essential services we need to operate like wireless internet and security monitoring services, and we have uniforms for students in production that we can’t afford to get out for the children to wear on performances.
Help us spread the word of need and assistance for us to keep a great organization and program running smoothly to ensure the children we sever continue to be great. We are available for performances and appearances this holiday season in any Covid friendly environment and virtually for any reason! Call on us today!

We have a mission to be the most comprehensive arts program the City of Memphis has to offer. We will educate, transform, motivate, build, create space, moments, and opportunities to encourage the youth of all ages to succeed and be confident in who they are, what they do, and what talents they instill. We will maintain an environment conducive to positivity, enrichment, and growth through the facilitation and embracing of the arts.
