Your Health in the Palm of Your Hands with the New, Free, Pharmacy App

A new app simply called, “The Pharmacy App”, gives patients the tools they need to manage their health with the help of community pharmacy

Western Cape, South Africa Aug 24, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - KK Health, a division of KK Publishers, a company that has developed strong links with pharmacies across Namibia and South Africa for the past 21 years, has introduced a user-friendly, progressive web app.

This interactive, health management platform allows for new prescription orders, repeat acute prescription and chronic medication refills, speedy access to a pharmacist with a one-on-one phone chat, plus a whole lot more.

A mobile app gives the pharmacy a permanent physical presence on the patient’s handset and allows patients to contact their pharmacist regardless of their location and activity. This level of engagement makes this one of the most important communication channels a pharmacy can have with their patients that should not be ignored or left open solely to their chain store competitors to occupy, given its reach, convenience, and potential.

As Frank Beerman, B.Sc. Pharm., MPS (RSA), founder of KK Health, and himself a practicing community pharmacist explains: “This mobile app will help our patients manage their medications, especially chronic medication, from their smartphones. Now anywhere you go, you can take your pharmacist with you.”

“Ensuring patients receive their chronic medicine every month in good time is one of the key focus areas. This added convenience creates a streamlined approach to managing a patient’s medications that will result in more consistent use that is in keeping with the intent of the original prescription.”

So what makes this app different? There’s no other app in the marketplace that is designed for the community pharmacist offering this range of services. The primary purpose of the app is to provide a new pathway of efficient communication between pharmacists and their patients, to encourage Increased medication adherence and compliance, as well as to offer when asked, advice, information, and encouragement.

The interactive pharmacy app is an always-on (24/7) marketing platform for community pharmacies, designed to give pharmacists who may lack the expensive high-end tools and resources of their larger chain-store competitors, access to technology that will empower them to improve health care delivery to their patients. The pharmacy app helps to deliver a better, simpler experience through modern technology, and personalized service.

Data from a Nielsen survey on smartphone usage shows that 89% of consumer time is spent through app interaction. Customers want a one-tap app that connects them to their pharmacy 24 hours a day. Here is innovation that will increase a customer’s experience, loyalty, engagement, and what is most important - enhanced medicine adherence and compliance.

Pharmacies will be encouraged to invite their customers to download this free, mobile app onto their smartphones – and whether they’re at home, at work, on holiday, or just out and about, they will easily and speedily be able to: chat live, one-on-one, with a professional pharmacist for trusted, clinical advice and information: order new prescriptions; request prescription repeat refills; automatically receive their chronic medication when it’s due, order OTC medicines, vitamins, supplements, and health & beauty products; consult a medical symptom-checker for an  A.I. opinion; improve their lifestyle using the results obtained from an A.I. scientifically-based longevity calculator.

To download the app, patients type rxrx.co.za into the browser on their mobile phone, register, and select their preferred pharmacy from the dropdown lists of all South African and Namibian pharmacies and finally save the app to their home screen, ready for future use. Customers can switch their preferred pharmacy at any time by simply using the ‘Update Profile’ tool on the app menu.

“From advice to the device, the pharmacy has always represented the first line of defense for health information and wellness. The digital revolution will further entrench the pharmacy practice as an essential component of care—with a human touch and a digital reach.” (Extract from Forbes Magazine)
