WNBA Players Received $120,000 Worth of Bitcoin from Coinbase

WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship witnessed one of the biggest sponsors Coinbase giving out $120,000 Worth of Bitcoin on Tuesday to the New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces.

On Tuesday, as part of their ongoing sponsorship of the women’s professional basketball league; the agency awarded Bitcoin to the players. WNBA’s Commissioner's Cup Championship turned out more exciting when the WNBA players were offered crypto educational content from Coinbase. Each of the players received $5,000 in Bitcoin from the exchange. New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces, each team has 12 players and every one of them received crypto funds deposited into their personal Coinbase accounts. With these current incidents, it is evident that Coinbase is expanding its sponsorship with WNBA after 2022 which started back in 2021.

Coinbase is also the presenting partner of the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship. The Championship was live stream Amazon Prime Video and a huge number of viewers watched it. This Commissioner’s Cup is an annual basketball competition take mainly takes place during the WNBA regular season. It helps to raise money for charity while awarding players with special funds to support their sports careers. Tuesday’s final took place at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas the New York Liberty won the match. In order to commemorate their attendance, the fans were also offered NFT collectibles from the crypto exchange platform, Coinbase. Fans who collected the NFT were also awarded a 25% discount to the WNBA’s online store along with a free single-game viewing pass for the WNBA League Pass streaming service.

Previously, Coinbase was criticized for its partnership with the WNBA as last year, the market for cryptocurrency witnessed some heavy collapse. As a result, many deals with sports sponsorship by major exchange FTX, crypto lender Voyager, and cryptocurrency project Terra saw a downfall. On the other hand, Coinbase sponsors everyone, starting from the Liberty and the Seattle Storm to star players like Jewell Loyd and Sue Bird.
