The Wine, Women & Film Festival, a live event with a focus on supporting women in the wine and film industries, is thrilled to announce the official venue selection of Séka Hills (Capay Valley) for its inaugural event and has confirmed the event's debut date will be Saturday, September 17, 2022

A 7-hour ticket is required, private event will take place from 3 PM - 10 PM and feature a live screening of short-listed indie films from 6 PM-10 PM on the patio and pergola open-air terrace. Attendees will also enjoy a Wine Tasting Flight of 4 wines, Buffet, Networking Mixer, Festival Photo Opportunity from 3 PM-5:30 PM, and Award Presentation from 5:30 PM-6 PM

Just 38 miles from the Sacramento airport and 58 miles from Napa, nestled in the picturesque Capay Valley mountains and rolling hills of Brooks, California, the venue is also surrounded by an array of activities, restaurants, and amenities, including the neighboring Cache Creek Golf Resort, Spa & Casino as well as all that the surrounding Yolo County wine country location has to offer (https://www.yolocountywines.com/map).

Wendy Watts, the festival’s Event Director, and Co-Creator highlighted the value and significance of this venue selection by stating: “As a woman-run project, we are proud to host an event with an organization that also supports the advancement and leadership of women.”  Séka Hills is a Native American enterprise owned and operated by the tribe known as the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation, with a focus not only on sustainable farming, winemaking, and organic crops but on supporting the advancement of women in the wine industry. ‘They recognized the potential to succeed in winemaking and their potential for being the first California Tribe to try their hand at vinting nearly two decades ago. They sent one of their own, Tara Gomez, to Allan Hancock College and Fresno State for her education at their renowned enology departments. After school, she apprenticed at Fess Parker Winery, worked at J. Lohr in Paso Robles for a number of years, and then went on to craft her own label, Kalawashaq’ Wine Cellars.’”

“Wine, women, and film are popular cultural themes that our audience and participants share an appreciation of,” said Janet Hart, Co-Creator of the festival. “We were especially excited and pleasantly surprised to receive the Feature Film and Best Director entry of the female Director, Jihane Mrad, ‘Twisted Vines,’ a murder mystery starring Vivica A. Fox (also one of the film’s Producers) which was shot on location at the Robert Renzoni Winery in Temecula, California.”

Only ticketed attendees will be permitted access to the event space and activities.     Event tickets will be available exclusively on FilmFreeway. Festival project submitters will have the first option at ticket sales during the Pre-Sale Period (6/15-7/15). Ticketed attendees must be checked in by festival staff upon arrival.
