Dorset, United Kingdom Oct 22, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - Welterweight Title Holder Gemma Ruegg will be fighting Bridget Boyle for the
Queensbury League Light Welterweight Title in October.
This will be the first fight for the Bournemouth based boxer and businesswoman since her
stunning victory over Gemma Marten in September that gained national publicity and even
lead to a BBC documentary about her.
Since then its been easy for Ruegg to take her eye off the ball, however with recent boxing upsets on everybody’s minds and the fact that her opponent is a dangerous and an
experienced fighter having spent decades fighting in both boxing and martial arts and
Muay Thai, who wants the title – Ruegg is training harder than ever, with her boxing coach
husband Danny Ruegg.
She says “I know how hard this is going to be. I was very grateful for the media attention I got before, especially but it means there is added pressure on me. And whilst Bridget
Boyle is untested in this league I know she is a dangerous fighter so I must be careful. I
train hard all the time but this time I have really had step my game up.”
Ruegg also knows there is no added pressure from both her fans who want to see her
succeed and her detracts who would love nothing more than to see her fail.
The fight will take place as part of the Queensbury Boxing League’s Bad Intention event
which will be held at Epsom Downs Racecourses in Surrey on the 26th October 2019.
