New York City, New York Aug 21, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Janix Marie Mendez was born in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. While she was assigned male at birth, Her parents said that from the age of two, Mendez knew she was a girl.
After it became clear it was “not just a phase”, her parents sought professional help and found the head of the psychiatric unit at Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Ben Ward was later stated, “She was never a boy”.
Janix Marie Mendez known professionally as Janix Mendez is a Singer-songwriter, producer, LGBTQ+ activist/advocate and model born in the Dominican Republic but raised in the fascinating scenes of New York City. Atage 8 Mendez started pursuing her musical talent by doing a vocal class in her middle school which led to her singing in many public events/venues around the city, now, Mendez is known for being the (1st Dominican Trans Women) to come out at a such young age
Following her early success, Mendez released a collection of digital singles which would later comprise her unofficial body of work known as Nostalgic Era. On 1 October 2017, Mendez released the Thanksgiving-themed EP Hard Out Here (for a bitch). Which later gave away to singer-songwriter (Lily Allen). Her first studio album (Pinkity) was released on 27 January 2020. The record was preceded with a nine-week-long promotional campaign, during which Mendez released one single per week with an accompanying visual video. Isaiah reached number seven on the Heatseekers Chart and number 26 on the Independent Albums chart.
Mendez is truly known for speaking for the LGBTQ+ community but when it comes to her own career she pays close attention to every single direction of the path, in a late 2018 interview with Deluxe Magazine, Mendez stated, “I was never lucky to have an opportunty to show my brightness into the world, but now since this is my time, let’s do it, that’s all I had ever learned from those who support and love me, LET’S DO IT!”.
Just at the age of 8, Mendez started pursuing her musical opportunity career by participating on every of her school singing contests, parties, events, etc…Mendez reported stating “I took a little break after school closed down in June, but that doesn’t mean my music opportunity is over, it’s just to settle down and think what’s next”.
In August of 2016, Mendez went to her Twitter account tweeting about her recent coming out story as Transgender where it led her to have even much more opportunities into becoming a rising pop star as like she is now, Mendez didn’t stop there, she later took it to Instagram and Facebook where she posted the whole coming out story (In a now deleted public post) she stated in a short part “It was difficult for me because I grew up with not only some homophobic family members but also negative people surrounding me at all times and that negativity led me to become a much darker person.
Mendez is currently signed with (Universal Music Group) distributing her Music Videos along with Vevo.
