When The Community You Have Served for 40-Years Calls, You Answer

Atlanta, Georgia Apr 23, 2020 (Issuewire.com)  - Diaz Foods (http://www.diazfoods.com), a leading distributor of specialty foods based in Atlanta, Georgia makes several donations to various organizations throughout the Atlanta area.

Diaz Foods has received an overwhelming amount of requests for food donations over the last four to five weeks. "Several organizations reached out to us (Diaz Foods) for support and we are doing everything we can to help. We started our business here and have served this community for the last 40 years. Especially in this time of great need, our community and these organizations count on us – it is our responsibility to help them through these difficult times," said Barbarella Diaz, VP Community Affairs at Diaz Foods.

Last week, Diaz Foods answered a call to help Atlanta Public School families. They donated over 20,000 pounds of mixed groceries that were delivered to an APS center where they were sorted and then distributed to Latino families in need. Diaz Foods donated all of the dry groceries as well as some dairy products. Tortillas de Casa, a sister company of Diaz Foods, also donated a pallet of corn and flour tortillas. Dairy Direct, a partnering vendor, also donated several pallets of mixed dairy items including milk, cheese, and eggs.

Additionally, a few weeks ago, Diaz Foods delivered over 5,000 pounds of donated food to Agape and Sandy Springs Mission which both have after school programs that serve Latino families. Grady Hospital’s Foundation reached out in March and wanted to find sources that could help feed the front lines. Díaz Foods donated and delivered over 4,000 pounds of groceries for frontline healthcare workers. They are also providing warehousing space for non-essential supplies to Emory Hospital so that they can make room for more urgent supplies in their facilities. “Taking care of our most vulnerable communities is essential and this includes healthcare workers, hospitals, and immigrant communities,” said Diaz, “and we want to lend a hand where we can.”

Diaz Foods’ commitment to serve the community and feed those in need has always been a part of the company’s culture. Before COVID-19, during and after, their dedication to this issue will remain, and they plan on continuing to donate items as long as possible to fill these great needs.
