Thane, Maharashtra Jul 1, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Umeed is hope for the LGBT community to find their desired soul mate. Finding a good companion is a life-changing experience for all of us. There are numerous Matrimonial apps & Websites for marriages. However, it's hard to find a good Matrimonial website for the LGBT community.
Our Supreme Court has canned Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), decriminalising the 158-year-old colonial law which criminalised consensual gay sex. In spite of scrapping Section 377, the community is still struggling to come out openly in our society to 'tie the knot' and embrace themselves in togetherness. It's a famous saying that 'Marriages are made in heaven' but we are here to help you smoothen the journey of your nuptial vows on this earth itself.
Mr. Sameer Sreejesh is the founder & the creative head behind this amazing concept to build a strong Matrimonial platform for the LGBT community. He is also associated with Vanya Foundation_NGO, which looks after the welfare of the transgender community. He further says that “Usually we see the LGBT community being neglected in society, but the time is changing. We have created 'Umeed' as a platform for the LBGT community to find their life partner. It is not a dating app, but for like-minded people to get together and explore potential relationships.”
In 2019, Mr. Sameer Sreejesh launched the Umeed App with free registration which really got a great response from the community. Other platforms charge huge fees to use the services. "We developed an entire App at an affordable price and launched it for free for the community.” according to the founders. As of today Umeed App has registered more than 8,000 profiles and matched over 100 couples.
Moreover, the journey of Umeed was not easy as it was a matrimonial website for a community that is still trying to make its place in our society. Sameer stated that the start was slow as the team had to first make a database and also know if the community is interested in such a service. Fortunately, it later gained momentum.
Mr. Sameer Sreejesh quoted that "We promoted the App through different events held for the community and managed to enroll 500 profiles before we launched it. We have helped around 100 couples to find their match through our Umeed App in the first year of launch. They might not enjoy the same rights as other couples, but all of them are happy with our approach.
Sameer added "We also contacted the Members who have uninstalled the App and to our surprise, the reason was overwhelming as 90% of Members have found their match without paying any fees. The satisfactory stats really looked great which was an achievement for me and my strong team." The app is also receiving registration requests from Thailand, South Africa, and the Philippines with more than 30 profiles from foreign countries.
Further, on the topic that LBGT couples do not get the benefits of marriage under the law, “The court might have decriminalised relations between same-sex couples but these couples still cannot get their marriage registered nor get any documentation for the same. They can avail personal or home loans on joint accounts, however do not enjoy other legal rights. There are many activists who are fighting for the cause and we believe the scenario will change" quoted by the Founder.
The Founder strongly feels that loving someone or being in Love with someone is not a crime, because Love is a beautiful feeling and we all deserve to be loved in our own ways. But then if you fell in love with someone of your same gender then the same LOVE was looked upon as a Crime in our society. We ensure to stand by the LGBT community throughout the journey of finding a life partner and breaking the preset norms of our society. It's not going to be a cakewalk journey but definitely will be a great reward for a lifetime.
