Kiev, Kyyiv Dec 25, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been seeking support from all the countries around the world and he has recently talked with Japan's new Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba. They had a talk about the Russian missile and drone attacks that took place on Christmas. Zelenskyy thanked the Japanese Prime Minister for Japan’s continuous support for Ukraine in the tough times when many other countries stayed neutral. He particularly mentioned the humanitarian efforts and financial aid that helped save thousands of lives in the country. The President also focused on the matter of how important is to save Ukraine’s energy system after all the recent attacks took place.
The Ukrainian President recently shared a post on X regarding the conversation had with the Japanese Prime Minister and it reads, "I spoke with Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, congratulating him on his appointment and thanking Japan for its humanitarian and financial aid, which helps us save thousands of lives, including recent support for energy equipment and shelter construction." Zelenskyy further added, "I highlighted Russia's mass attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on Christmas night, emphasizing that protecting and restoring energy systems is a priority as Russia tries to leave Ukrainians without heat and light during winter."
Praising Ishiba, he said that Japan "condemned North Korea's involvement in Russia's invasion, calling it a serious escalation and a threat to Indo-Pacific security, and expressed Japan's readiness to increase sanctions on the aggressor." Calling for peace, Zelenskyy ended the post by saying, "We need a just and lasting peace, and only joint efforts can bring it closer to all of us." Russia has recently shot down 50 missiles and a huge number of drones in the country to cause destruction and restoring power supply has become tougher. Perhaps, it is time for unifying strength.
