London, England Aug 20, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - Charlie Freeman, known professionally as FREE/MAN, is set to release his highly anticipated second album, Gift In The Shadows, in late 2025, following the upcoming Reconnection EP. The London-based singer-songwriter has built a strong following with his heartfelt acoustic alt-soul/rock sound that explores themes of truth, love, freedom, and spiritual connection.
Charlie’s musical journey began at age 19, picking up the guitar in difficult times during his father's illness and using the instrument as a source of comfort and healing. This personal connection to music shaped his authentic sound, leading to his debut album, Truth, which was reissued in advance of his new album, Gift In The Shadows, which comes out in late 2025.
The upcoming album Gift In The Shadows promises to be Charlie Freeman’s most personal work yet, exploring themes of redemption, acceptance, and finding light in darkness. The project reflects his own spiritual journey and personal growth over recent years.
His career faced a major setback when a planned 26-city tour of China was cancelled just two days before departure in March 2020 due to the pandemic. But he used this challenge as an opportunity to reset, continue writing, and deepen his spiritual journey, leading to his strongest material yet.
Beyond his solo work, Charlie Freeman is expanding into multiple creative projects. "The Hook," a comedy-drama about a dysfunctional family rock band, is set for release in 2026, with Charlie playing lead character Creamore in a redemption story from jail to freedom. The film has received positive responses at screenings and is currently in talks with distributors. A follow-up project, "NEON SOUP," exploring themes of ego, id, and superconsciousness, begins filming in late 2025. A documentary titled "(How to be a) FREE/MAN" is also in production, following his musical and personal journey since 2019, including his spiritual awakening and approach to overcoming personal challenges.
Charlie is also launching "The Freedom Music Prize" in 2025, designed to support upcoming UK talent. As partner and owner of JBJ Studio, London's premier residential recording facility, he's well-positioned to nurture new artists and has hosted major acts while serving as a cultural hub on Portobello Road with community events, music school programs, and live performances.
