Uber, Checkr and Aon to Headline Startup Trust & Safety Conference

The world’s largest rideshare and transportation company joins forces with leading startup insurance and background screening providers to present the eighth annual Marketplace Risk Management Conference May 17-18 in San Francisco, CA.

San Francisco, California May 3, 2022 (Issuewire.com)  - These industry leaders have come together to share best practices and learnings from their experience and expertise - all for the benefit of growing the marketplace technology ecosystem.

Marketplace startups have exploded in popularity over the last two decades - and even more so since the pandemic in large part due to quarantines, lockdowns, and restrictions that challenged traditional businesses and limited their ability to easily transact with customers. With that in mind, it’s unsurprising that 47% of ecommerce sales were made through marketplaces in 2020, totalling nearly $2 trillion.

However, this growth comes with increasing trust & safety challenges.

Uber’s investment into trust and safety has no doubt contributed to their massive growth, and they will be sharing invaluable insights from their business journey with attending marketplace startups. According to Roger Kaiser, Uber’s Head of Safety, “It is more important now than ever before that rapidly growing marketplace businesses prioritize trust and safety. Uber's tremendous growth came with valuable learnings that shaped our approach. As we said when we released our first Safety Report, secrecy doesn't make anyone safer. We're excited to share our experience with marketplace startups to help them better manage risk, overcome shared challenges, and responsibly grow their businesses."

“Aon is in the business of better decisions and we are proud to support a great organization like Marketplace Risk that helps elevate all companies in the sharing economy,” said Jillian Slyfield, Aon’s Chief Innovation Officer. “As a presenting sponsor, Aon has had the privilege to see these marketplaces grow, and in that growth, we have learned so much. Aon and the Aon Digital Economy practice attend Marketplace Risk to share the knowledge we have gained from building unique risk management solutions in this space and meet new and familiar faces that we can continue to learn. We look forward to seeing everyone in May!”

Marketplace Risk Founder, Jeremy Gottschalk, told us, “In such an innovative and disruptive industry, it’s vital that marketplace startups learn from and share their experiences and expertise with the community in order to elevate and improve risk management and trust & safety. We’re excited to welcome Uber, Checkr, and Aon as industry leaders in marketplace trust & safety and for them to share lessons with our community of startups.”

Aon, Checkr, and Uber will be joined by nearly 150 speakers from the marketplace startup ecosystem - founders, operators, and experts - to share learnings and best practices in risk management, trust & safety, compliance, and legal strategy. In all, 75 sessions will be presented by industry leaders, including Airbnb, Adobe Commerce, Artsted, CitizenShipper, Dwellsy, Expedia, Faire, Foodom, Google, GoPuff, HyreCar, Imperfect Foods, Instawork, Loopie Laundry, Lyft, Neighbor, OfferUp, Peerspace, Shipt, Sittercity, Spin, Tend, Thumbtack, Turo, UrbanSitter, uShip, Vivvi, Wag!, Waymo, Winnie, and many more.
