New York City, New York Sep 21, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - On the sidelines of 74th Session of United Nations General Assembly this week, America’s close ally, partner and friend, Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani is expected to render a reply for HR 1242 Resilience Project that was hand-delivered in Doha, requesting patronage to charter a Qatar Airways plane to commemorate 400th years of African-American History in Africa.
President Trump signed the bi-partisan legislation, HR 1242 to commemorate the first enslaved Africans arriving in English colonies during 1619, which calls for patriotic celebrations to highlight the resilience and contributions of Africans and African-Americans to the United States of America.
This summer, HR 1242 Resilience Project coordinated an event at Brooklyn Bridge Park, where then, President-elect of 74th General Assembly, H.E. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande was honored along with African non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, American law enforcement, civic leaders, academia and clergy under theme 400 Years: Resilience, Faith, Healing and Partnership. Shortly afterward, they held a ceremony on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
Departing from New York later this year, the ten-day trip is envisioned to make stops in Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Senegal, and conclude with an African Partnership Economic Forum in Equatorial Guinea, says, Don Victor Mooney, President of HR 1242 Resilience Project.
Mooney of Flushing, Queens became the first African-American to row from Africa to New York. His boat christened the Spirit of Malabo was sponsored by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
