Odessa, Texas Aug 7, 2026 (Issuewire.com)  - With more than 40 years of experience across virtually every facet of healthcare, Treva J. Powell, RN, continues to set the standard for compassionate nursing leadership and operational excellence. Her distinguished career encompasses emergency medicine, critical care, behavioral health, long-term care, correctional healthcare, hospice, home health, quality assurance, risk management, and healthcare administration, making her one of the most versatile and accomplished nursing professionals in the field.

Currently serving as RN MDS Coordinator at Avir at Monahans in Monahans, Texas, Treva oversees Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, and risk evaluation programs. In this role, she collaborates closely with residents, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure accurate clinical assessments, regulatory compliance, and individualized care plans that enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.

Treva’s comprehensive understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, state and federal regulations, and healthcare accreditation standards has made her a trusted leader in improving clinical operations while maintaining the highest standards of patient care. Her ability to balance regulatory requirements with compassionate, patient-centered care has consistently strengthened healthcare organizations and fostered positive experiences for patients and their families.

Before assuming her current position, Treva served as Charge Nurse, Risk Evaluation, and QAPI Coordinator for secure memory care units, where she specialized in resident safety, behavioral health, staff education, and comprehensive risk management. Her leadership helped establish safer care environments while promoting evidence-based practices and continuous quality improvement.

Throughout her remarkable career, Treva has held numerous executive and leadership roles, including Director of Nursing, Director of Compliance and Risk Management, Health Services Administrator, House Supervisor, and Director of Behavioral Health and Case Management programs. Her professional background spans hospitals, rehabilitation centers, correctional facilities, hospice organizations, dialysis clinics, psychiatric hospitals, home health agencies, and emergency medical services.

Equally impressive is her frontline clinical experience. Treva has served as an emergency department nurse, neonatal intensive care nurse, critical care nurse, forensic nurse, hospice nurse, field medic, and EMT/Paramedic. These diverse experiences have provided her with a unique perspective on patient care, enabling her to effectively navigate complex clinical situations while implementing strategies that improve patient safety, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Her expertise extends beyond bedside care into quality assurance auditing, utilization review, root cause analysis, emergency preparedness, healthcare policy development, and risk management. These specialized skills have allowed her to lead initiatives that reduce risk, improve organizational performance, and strengthen healthcare delivery systems.

A passionate advocate for education, Treva has also devoted much of her career to developing future healthcare professionals. She has served as an Anatomy and Physiology instructor, emergency preparedness educator, and instructor on Weapons of Mass Destruction response, training healthcare professionals, emergency responders, law enforcement personnel, and community organizations. Through mentorship and education, she has helped cultivate cultures centered on accountability, lifelong learning, and patient safety.

Her extensive professional credentials include Registered Nurse licensure, Advanced RAC-CT MDS Certification, Certified Safety training, coding education, critical care nursing training, and multiple certifications in emergency response and life support.

Reflecting on what has sustained her passion throughout her career, Treva shares, “What I enjoy most about practicing medicine is witnessing the expression in my patients’ eyes during what is often one of the most difficult days of their lives—the moment that communicates, ‘Thank you for being here.’ I am also deeply fulfilled by the diversity of the field. Nursing requires continual learning across many disciplines; for example, I would not have expected to study accident reconstruction, but as a Risk Manager, that training proved invaluable in strengthening my practice and perspective.”

Treva’s unwavering commitment to excellence continues to define her distinguished career. Whether coordinating complex care plans, leading multidisciplinary teams, developing quality improvement initiatives, or supporting patients and families through life’s most challenging moments, she remains dedicated to advancing the nursing profession while improving the quality of healthcare delivery. Her exceptional breadth of experience, proven leadership, and enduring commitment to patient advocacy continue to leave a lasting impact on the organizations, colleagues, and communities she serves.
