Roanoke, Virginia Jul 16, 2019 (Issuewire.com) - The Thrivent Community – Blue Ridge Group recently hosted A Thursday Evening with Your Thrivent Community event to benefit Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp & Retreat Center.
The event took place on Thursday, June 13 at 6:00 pm at The Plantation on Sunnybrook in Roanoke, Va.
The event featured a camp-themed dinner and raised over $3,400 for Caroline Furnace Lutheran Camp & Retreat Center. For over 30 years, area congregations in the Roanoke Valley have been raising funds to send at-risk youth and/or youth from low-income families to a week of Christian based camp in the beautiful mountains of Virginia. In most cases, the children have never had an opportunity to attend a summer camp and it creates a life-changing experience for everyone involved.
Our Thrivent members are part of a regional network of members—Christians who value being wise with money and living generously. Our members had the opportunity to connect with other Thrivent members, share a meal and hear from guest speakers. They also received an update on Thrivent’s member generosity programs and learned how they can use their member benefits to support local causes they care about in their communities.
This event was led by the Blue Ridge Group – Thrivent Financial team of financial representatives. Thrivent’s purpose is to serve members and society by guiding both to be wise with money and live generously.
