'The TBE Book' (4th Edition) available now!

Singapore, Singapore May 25, 2021 (Issuewire.com)  - Global Health Press Pte Ltd, the Singapore-based publisher and e-learning provider for the health, medical, and pharmaceutical industry, released the 4th edition of The TBE Book, with new epidemiology data, including the 2020 case numbers, as made available by local country experts and authorities.

Edited again by the editorial quartet – Prof. Dr. Gerhard Dobler, Dr. Wilhelm Erber, Dr. Michael Bröker, and Prof. Dr. Heinz-Josef Schmitt – and written by 98 authors from 30 countries, the 386-page book provides the latest data and research related to tick-borne encephalitis (TBE).

The TBE Book reports the short history of TBE and its discovery, followed by summaries on state-of-the-art science on TBE, the virology of the TBE-virus, transmission dynamics, the pathogenesis of the infection and the disease, immunology, clinical aspects in adults and children, diagnostic tests to prove the infection, public health views, as well as all globally licensed vaccines to prevent the infection. Certainly, the heart of the 4th edition – as with the previous 3 ones – details information on TBE in 35 countries across Europe and Asia.

While airborne- and travel-related infections significantly decreased in Central Europe due to the COVID-restrictions, TBE case numbers in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and elsewhere are at an all-time high since reporting started. At the same time, in some countries, TBE cases are decreasing and there are even areas within “endemic countries” where the virus disappeared.

Made possible by funding from Pfizer Inc., The TBE Book is provided free of charge at www.tbenews.com/tbe to anybody interested in the global spread of TBEV infections. Each chapter can be individually downloaded as a PDF and the whole book can even be viewed in a book-like manner as an electronic flip version. The authors of each chapter are solely responsible for the respective content and – different from other publishers – copyright owners.
