Student Violin Concerto Competition
The Beloit Janesville Symphony Orchestra announces a Student Violin Concerto Competition.
Two co-winners will be selected to perform one movement apiece of a standard violin concerto in concert with the Beloit Janesville Symphony in Beloit and Janesville, Wisconsin on March 25th and 26th of 2023, with rehearsals taking place on March 16th, 21st, and 23rd.
The two co-winners will also receive a cash prize of $500 apiece.
Rules of the contest:
The competition is open to high school and college students who are currently studying violin in the music program of their schools. The Competition is open to all students who are enrolled in schools in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Applicants must submit a video recording of themselves playing one movement of a violin concerto, scored for a standard symphony orchestra, accompanied by piano, string ensemble, or orchestra, as well as a resume and contact information.
The two winners must be available to be in Beloit or Janesville for all rehearsal and performance dates.
The winners will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from rehearsals and performances, and hotel accommodations if staying overnight in Beloit or Janesville. However, if there is a demonstrable inability to meet the financial demands of this requirement, the student may apply to the BJSO for assistance.
Video auditions will be accepted in all standard digital forms or DVDs. Contact information should be sent as a word document under separate cover to:

Application materials must be received by the Beloit Janesville Symphony no later than January 15th, 2023.
