Texas-Ghana Sibling Duo Transforms Village School into Vocational Powerhouse with “Learn & Earn” Model

In just four years, a visionary brother-sister team has redefined education in rural Ghana.

Houston, Texas Sep 17, 2025 (Issuewire.com)  - In just four years, a visionary brother-sister team has redefined education in rural Ghana. Texas-based Jimmy Quansah and his sister Vida Selma Koomson have grown DestinyFaith Christian International School from a single classroom into a thriving institution serving 255 students—many of whom now graduate with both academic credentials and income-generating skills.

At DestinyFaith, seven-year-olds master English while learning hair braiding. Teenagers study algebra alongside fashion design and furniture making. This is the heart of their revolutionary “Learn & Earn” model: a dual-track approach that equips students to thrive academically and economically.

“We’re not just teaching literacy—we’re creating entrepreneurs,” says Quansah, who previously worked with New York’s homeless and nursing home residents before returning to his mother’s village in Ghana. “This model is about unlocking potential and building sustainable futures.”

Key Impact Highlights:

  • 255 students enrolled (4x growth since inception)
  • 19 full-time local staff employed
  • Vocational tracks include fashion design, furniture making, and business training
  • Hundreds of families economically uplifted
