Sydney Children’s Practice Wins Premier National Business Award

Sydney Children’s Practice has taken top honours in the Psychology category at the 2025 Australian Professionals Small Business Champion Awards – the pinnacle of recognition for small businesses nationwide.

Sydney, New South Wales Sep 18, 2025 (Issuewire.com)  - These competitive national awards are widely acknowledged as the ‘Logies of Small Business’ and celebrate excellence, innovation and outstanding achievement by professional businesses across metropolitan, regional and rural Australia.

Entries are evaluated by an independent panel of experts, using a range of criteria including financial performance, innovation, growth, customer service excellence, business strategy, sustainability and community contribution.

Sydney Children’s Practice was a standout winner in the Psychology category, with the practice founder and owner, Brad Bowen saying the award was testament to his whole team’s commitment to effective, ethical and sustainable care for children and adolescents.

“I firmly believe that our collaborative, wraparound approach is what sets Sydney Children’s Practice apart in the industry,” Bowen continued.

“When I started the practice in 2017, I wanted to do things differently.  My focus was to help children and adolescents improve their mental health and thrive in everyday life through high-quality, evidence-based care that was genuinely tailored to each child and family.  That commitment has deepened over the years and to this day, our entire team remains single-minded about making a meaningful impact on the lives of our patients, their families and the wider community.

“We’ve also maintained a strong focus on supporting our clinicians and support staff to grow into confident, capable professionals through effective supervision, leadership, mentoring and training opportunities - plus we have invested time and resources into value-added education-based outreach activities and sustainable practices,” he said.

Bowen believes the company’s steady, values-driven growth from a solo psychology practice to a team of over 14 psychologists and support staff in two Sydney locations (Glebe and Stanmore), their innovative approach, strategy of genuine connection and comprehensive care and their commitment to professional development were among the contributing factors to their award.  He said the practice’s ongoing education-based community outreach was another likely contributing factor.

“At Sydney Children’s Practice, our achievements are the result of many hands working together. This Champions award is recognition of our team’s shared commitment and impact,” he said.

“We’ve built this business on collaboration with families, referring doctors, schools and our community,” Bowen said. “It’s a place where families feel genuinely cared for, where staff feel valued and which has clinical excellence and human connection at its core.”

The Australian Small Business Champion Awards originated in 1999 to recognise the achievements of outstanding small businesses from all states and territories and have become the flagship program recognising small business excellence countrywide.  This year marked the inaugural Australian Professional Small Business Champion Awards which acknowledge professionals who are contributing, influencing and leading their sectors.

Steve Loe, Awards Founder and Managing Director of Precedent Productions which manages the programme said that Sydney Children’s Practice’s Champion status was a clear reflection of the business’s professionalism, vision and results.  “Small businesses like Sydney Children’s Practice are the backbone of Australia’s economy, driving innovation, creating jobs and delivering exceptional value to customers,” he said.

Bowen emphasised that while awards and national recognition were extremely gratifying, the real measure of success for Sydney Children’s Practice is found in everyday impact.

“Our work is about raising awareness of and addressing mental health challenges, learning needs and neurodiversity. We really want to help normalise the act of seeking support for mental health challenges, learning needs and neurodiversity.  Ultimately, it’s about making a meaningful difference in the daily lives of children, young people and their families.”
