Yaya El Gitano was born on March 5th, 1988 to Angel M Santiago Roena and Maribel Ortiz Monge, purtorrican parents, and had five siblings. He has always had a passion for music and dancing, even as a child. His father, who used to play congas, and mother, who signs while doing housework, have both influenced him. When his family relocated from Puerto Rico to Atlanta, he discovered a way to connect with others through music. He began dancing in school programs and roller skating rinks in the Atlanta suburbs when he was ten years old. By the age of 15, he was back in Puerto Rico, where he met two of his most influential friends: Johnse and Flick.
For the next few years, the three danced urban music, reggaeton, and pop music professionally, with artists from Fusion Music, Trebol Clan, Wiso G, and others. He returned to Atlanta at the age of 20 and began producing music for local rap artists. Years later, in Fajardo, he used those skills while coaching young kids, assisting those in need, and using music to keep kids off the streets. After all these years of learning, coaching, and producing for others, the time has finally come for him to make his music.
