A new psychological thriller from filmmaker Migue Avalos.
Emerging filmmaker Migue Avalos has officially begun development on The Third Moon, an atmospheric psychological thriller set against the vast isolation of the desert.
Written and directed by Avalos, the film follows a group of young people whose journey slowly begins to unravel into something strange, unsettling, and deeply surreal. Blending psychological tension with dreamlike imagery, The Third Moon explores themes of obsession, identity, fear, and the unknown.
The project is described as visually immersive and emotionally charged, drawing inspiration from minimalist thrillers, cult mysteries, and experimental genre cinema while maintaining a grounded and intimate human perspective.
“The desert has this feeling of silence that becomes almost hypnotic,” says Avalos. “I wanted the film to feel immersive, like something beautiful slowly turning unfamiliar.”
Currently in development and early casting stages, The Third Moon embraces oversaturated sunlight, retro-inspired imagery, distorted landscapes, and a haunting atmospheric tone.
The Third Moon will mark Avalos’ debut feature film as a writer-director and part of his growing body of independent creative work.
