Lancaster, Pennsylvania Mar 20, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Sun Point Foundation, a newly established non-profit organization, has launched in Lancaster, PA. Their mission is to support mental health and wellness in underserved communities by offering more insurance, and sliding scale service options including soon to be offering Performcare state insurance. The foundation aims to address the lack of access to mental health resources that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, approximately 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences mental concerns in a given year, and the recent COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the need for mental health resources. However, underprivileged communities often lack access to mental health services due to financial constraints, lack of awareness, and stigma associated with seeking help.
Sun Point Foundation seeks to bridge this gap by providing education, advocacy, and support to individuals and communities in need. The foundation will partner with mental health professionals, community organizations, and volunteers to create and implement programs that promote mental health and wellness. Sun Point Foundation is a sister organization of Sun Point Wellness Center, they operate with the same mission to provide the highest quality evidence-based counseling.
Ana Armas and Laura Morse are co-leading the initiative together. Ana Armas shared, "We are excited to launch The Sun Point Foundation to support mental health and wellness to communities in need." Laura Morse explained that, “Our goal is to help individuals and families thrive by providing access to resources and services that are often out of reach. We believe that everyone deserves access to mental health care, and we are committed to making that a reality."
Sun Point Foundation strongly advocates the conduct of needs-based evaluations and the utilization of evidence-based assessments to ensure the delivery of the most outstanding counseling services. Upon researching data from the Sun Point Wellness Center, The Foundation identified a deficiency in services for PerformCare clients which they aspire to address more effectively.
Sun Point Foundation recognizes the critical role that mental health professionals play in supporting the well-being of individuals and communities, and they do much to support their counselors and therapists.
