A native of Middletown, Connecticut, Dr. Opalacz received his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University. He graduated with his medical degree from the St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and completed his residency at St. Mary’s Hospital. Finally, he completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at Waterbury Hospital Health Center/Yale University School of Medicine.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in gastroenterology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Middlesex County IPA, Dr. Opalacz is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Contracting Committee with the integrated Hospital-IPA management services organization. He is also a Corporator with Liberty Bank and is active with the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce as well as numerous community and civic organizations.
