Midland, Texas Apr 5, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Space Nation’s first astronaut-led pilot mission is taking off right here in Midland at the end of the month. The three-day pioneer moon mission will be led by Space Nation’s Chief Instructor and former NASA astronaut, Gregory H. Johnson. The participating crew members will take part in a hands-on experience starting Friday, April 28, 2023, with activities at the Petroleum Museum, Midland Air & Space Port, and Kepler Aerospace, among others. Space Nation's scenario-based field simulations aim to advance space exploration training and research.
Before the first mission in West Texas launches, Space Nation is happy to share with the community that its chosen Midland as a permanent location to expand its commercial and business development activities. The company is one of the newest additions to the growing West Texas space ecosystem. Midland’s Spaceport acts as a hub for nine surrounding spaceports, with the likes of Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic launch sites to the West and NASA and SpaceX to the Southeast, Midland is perfectly situated as a center of activity and will continue to be a test bed for future missions to the Moon and Beyond.
West Texans have a deeply engrained history of pioneering spirit and a rich skillset relating to the energy industry. Space Nation plans to explore on its missions drilling water ice on the Moon to produce rocket fuel and extract minerals to build equipment, habitats, and spaceships, the skills and experience refined through generations in the oil and gas industry are at the center of our expansion to the solar system.
