Chennai, Tamil Nadu Mar 27, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Siblings Suryaa and Nilaa create ripples in TN shotgun shooting
CHENNAI, Siblings Suryaa Rajaa Baalu and Nilaa Rajaa Baalu from Tamil Nadu
underlined their talent by qualifying for the 12th South Zone Championships
Shotgun Championships that is underway at the Sivanthi Adityan Shooting Range,
Alamathi, in Red Hills on the outskirts of Chennai.
The brother-sister pair qualified for Double Trap and Trap events by winning gold
medals in their respective categories in the 46th Tamil Nadu State Championship
earlier this month in what was their first major competition.
Suryaa is in class 10 and Nilaa in class VII, both students of Bala Vidya Mandir
(Adyar), and are the children of TRB Rajaa, MLA from the Mannargudi
constituency and the son of former Union Minister TR Baalu.
Suryaa and Nilaa have already shown they have the promise to excel and bring
further laurels to the state and the country. Their mother Sharmila Rajaa,

“I got interested in Shotgun shooting after I read about it and saw photographs in
the newspapers a few years ago,” Suryaa said. “I expressed my interest to my
mother, and that’s how I got started. Nilaa also took up the sport,” he added.
The siblings are being coached by Mr. Rajagopal Thondaiman of the Royal
Pudukottai Sports Club. “Both Suryaa and Nilaa have tremendous potential. If
they channelize it, I’m sure they will make a mark on the global stage in the years
to come,” the coach said.
