This partnership will introduce efficient, affordable and essential respiratory solution to the health care systems in the regions, through a device authorized by the US FDA for Emergency Use.
Subsalve teamed up with Lombardi Undersea LLC, a diving technology research company, to create and launch this non-invasive ventilation solution. A Study on the effectiveness of non invasive ventilation via helmet vs via face mask at the University of Chicago shows that the intubation rate was 61.5% for the face mask group and 18.2% for the helmet group, showing the effectiveness of non-invasive ventilation hoods, in reducing the requirement for invasive intubation.
Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) using oxygen treatment hoods for Covid-19 has also proven to reduce the need for invasive intubation by up to 40% in Italy. The result is a significant reduction in the need for ventilators, and consequently reduces mortality from Covid-19.
