Mumbai, Maharashtra Jan 16, 2025 (Issuewire.com) - In a shocking turn of events, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked by an intruder at his home. The intruder stabbed the actor six times after barging into his Mumbai home in the early hours of 16th January. The horrible incident took place around 2.30 am on Thursday. The actor is currently admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital, undergoing surgery. The hospital staff confirmed that the actor is out of danger now.
This morning, the COO of Lilavati Hospital, Dr. Niraj Uttamani, said that the Bollywood actor underwent a 2.5-hour neurosurgery. However, plastic surgery is still ongoing and the result or confirmation is still awaited. An FIR has been lodged at the Bandra Police Station against the intruder. Allegedly, the intruder barged in into Saif Ali Khan's house, late at night when the actor was sleeping. After his attempt to barge in, a scuffle broke out between the actor and the intruder, confirmed by the police. Following this, the intruder stabbed the actor six times in various places on his body and fled the crime scene.
Two of the six stabs are near the actor’s spine, confirmed by the statement from Lilavati Hospital. The police are interrogating three attendants, who work at Saif Ali Khan's house. A parallel investigation is being conducted by the Mumbai Police Department as well. 15 teams have been formed by the Crime Branch and local Mumbai Police to search for the intruder. Three teams have left for different areas of Mumbai while another team is scanning the CCTV footage for clues. Another team will go out of the state to continue searching for the intruder.
Following this incident, Saif Ali Khan’s team has released a statement. read, "There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan's residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It's a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation." Similarly, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s team also shared an official statement that read, “There was an attempted burglary at Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request the media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police are already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern."
He was operated by a team of doctors led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthesiologist Dr. Nisha Gandhi.
The Bollywood actor is known for his roles in films like ‘Love Aaj Kaal’, ‘Devara: Part 1’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, etc. He was in Switzerland for the New Year holidays with his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and two sons and only returned to Mumbai last week.
