She is currently serving patients at Piedmont Physicians Endocrinology at Oak Hill in Newnan, Georgia. With several family members who have lived with diabetes, focusing on endocrinology has always been of interest to Dr Rene. “Many people think that endocrinology just addresses diabetes, but it’s so much more. There are so many hormones in the body that have an impact on your mood, weight, and other important bodily functions,” said Dr Rene.
Dr Rene received her medical degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1995. She then went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, followed by her fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr Rene is certified in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Dr Rene is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, the Atlanta Women’s Medical Alliance, and the National Medical Association.
