Pittsburg, California Jan 9, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - The late Willis E. Piper’s The Pipers of Pueblo is concocted to depict important events in history through reliving the memories left behind by the author. The memoir recalls the early life of Willis from New Hampshire and how certain circumstances have swept him into the west—in Colorado—where the Pipers grew in numbers. Unlike how western life is sometimes exaggeratingly depicted in movies, Willis was able to grasp, and thus illustrate a more common and simpler but realistic approach to everyday life in the Old West. Willis did not only leave behind an enjoyable read but also provides an educational glimpse of what his era was like, especially after the Battle of the Little Bighorn or most commonly known as Custer’s Last Stand.
The late Willis E. Piper grew up in the 19th century. He was a man of many professions, including a farmworker, carpenter, teacher, cowboy, contractor, and commissioner of Yellowstone County in Montana. After years of working, he finally settled in Long Beach. He wrote the Pipers of Pueblo in 1937.
