The almond-based vanilla base mix is the first in a line of dairy-free food products and alternatives the Company intends to offer, with Chocolate being the next soft-serve flavour to be made available. The release of Quirky Foods base mix is a step forward in meeting the increased demand for dairy-free treats and snacks by groups like vegans, which saw a 600% increase in numbers between 2014 and 2017.

Quirky Foods, Inc. was founded by Kathryn Godlewski, who, as an infant, was unable to tolerate cow’s milk. Later in life, she was formally diagnosed with an allergy to casein, one of the proteins in cow’s milk. After being disappointed by limited restaurant options and discouraged by the mislabeling of some dairy-free offerings at grocery stores, she began experimenting in her home kitchen to create a natural, clean ingredient, dairy-free alternative to using in her recipes.
