Friends Assisting Neighborhood Seniors Hosts Senior Citizens Prom to Promote Healthy Aging

  • Prom Season Has Come And Gone, But Tarrant County Seniors It Has Just Started

Arlington, Texas Sep 11, 2018 (Issuewire.com)  - Friends Assisting Neighborhood Seniors, a nonprofit organization devoted to a better quality of life for seniors, is hosting a senior citizens prom on September 22, 2018 from 5pm – 8pm at the Bob Duncan Center in Arlington.

The belles of this ball are a little older and a little wiser, but still know how to have fun. Seniors in Tarrant County will get dolled up, stroll down the red carpet and hit the dance floor. The prom's theme is "Hollywood Lights", and Free to Seniors 50 and over.

September is Healthy Aging Month is a national initiative developed to help individuals 50 and over think more positively about growing older. The prom is to help promote healthy aging in our seniors. What better way to get our seniors active than to take them back to a time when they were more active; their youth.

“Sometimes it seems like the only thing sweet about having a birthday is the cake, Friends Assisting Neighborhood Seniors (F.A.N.S.) is working to change that by focusing attention on the positive aspects of growing older,” Belinda Tanner, Executive Director. “Some never went to a prom, and others get to relive the experience. Either way this event will mean everything to those attending because it will be another memory to cherish. To have a special night just for them, and then to have their children take them, makes it even more special,” said Tanner.

Of course a prom is not complete without donning a prom king and queen their crown and tiara.
