Inspirational Art to Encourage Hope Among Women
PR Hair Extensions Salon, located at 27-24 Hoyt Avenue South, Long Island City, NY hosts a free exhibition of a special artistic creation entitled, “Saved” by Kaliopi Matheakis. The exhibition started on January 4th, 2022. It will continue on Wednesdays and Saturdays through February 5th, 2022, between the hours of 9 AM – 5 PM.
Visitors are welcomed free to the PR Hair Extensions Salon to spend uninterrupted time viewing this special exhibition which will be featured in the front sidewalk display window. “Saved” is a unique wire knitted interpretation of a boat on a journey. It is traveling the world with a mission of delivering a message of hope to pregnant women. The intention to show “Saved” forty times is representative of the 40 weeks of pregnancy, while the travels of the boat depict the journey.
The PR Hair Extensions exhibition of “Saved” in Long Island City, NY is happening exactly 11 years after the last exhibition on January 11, 2011, in Crete, Greece. This 4th of 40 exhibitions of this creation meant to instill hope, encouragement, and courage in pregnant women will be sold after its 40th exhibition. Proceeds are at this time being targeted to help “Hope for Life”, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the lives of pregnant women and their babies.
Ms. Matheakis who is the owner of PR Hair Extensions Salon chose the salon for the first exhibition of “Saved” in the United States. Earlier exhibitions of the wire knitted boat on a journey have been held in Greece. The 1st exhibition of this inspired art piece was held on June 5, 2010, the second on July 7th, 2010, and its last public appearance was on January 4, 2011, all in Greece. Upon its reemergence to the public as a symbol of hope and encouragement to pregnant women, Ms. Matheakis felt it important that the first New York exhibition of “Saved” be accessible to the community.
