International competition based in Dubai offers over $2,000 monetary Prize, special Phi Golden Ratio Award, category prizes, and publication in an annual hardcover book
Bayt Visual today announced the opening of submissions for the Phi Photo Awards 2025, an international photography competition that recognizes images where craft, composition, and vision meet at a consistently high level.
Named after Phi (ϕ), the golden ratio, the awards honour photographs built on strong structure and visual intent, while remaining open to every genre and approach – from advertising and editorial work to fine art, minimalist studies, nature, people, and personal projects.
“Phi Photo Awards is designed for photographers who expect their work to be taken seriously,” said a spokesperson for Phi Photo Awards. “Our goal is to provide a clear, credible route for strong photography to be seen, evaluated with care, and documented in a way that has value years from now, not just for a moment online.”
Selected entries will be presented in an international virtual exhibition and considered for inclusion in the Phi Photography Annual, a hardcover publication produced to gallery standards and circulated to industry professionals, galleries, and institutions. An experienced international jury of photographers and image-makers reviews all submissions anonymously, using defined criteria to highlight work that can stand on a global stage.
The awards offer a structured set of distinctions designed to support a photographer’s portfolio and career:
Photographer of the Year – Grand Prize
Receives $1,000 USD, the official Phi Trophy, an interview and feature, a dedicated spread in the Phi Photography Annual, a leading placement in the virtual exhibition, and the right to use the Phi winner mark in portfolios and client communication.
Phi Golden Ratio Award (PHI Category)
A dedicated distinction for an outstanding image in the PHI Category, with $500 USD in prize money, a special Phi Golden Ratio title, highlighted presentation in the Annual and exhibition, and extended promotion across Phi channels.
Category Winners (each main category)
Each main category winner is awarded $100 USD, a Digital Certificate of Excellence, feature in the online gallery, potential inclusion in the Phi Photography Annual, and use of the Phi Category Winner mark.
All Accepted Entries
All accepted entries are included in the virtual exhibition and receive a Digital Certificate of Participation, with eligibility for selection in the Annual – giving photographers a tangible, citable reference for their work.
Main categories for 2025 include Advertising Photography, Architecture Photography, Black & White Photography, Editorial, Fine Art Photography, Minimalist Photography, Nature Photography, People Photography, Special, and PHI Category. All subjects and stylistic approaches are welcome; works that do not sit neatly within one field can be submitted under Special.
Entry fees are set to remain accessible for serious entrants: Single Images may be submitted for $20 USD (additional categories $10), while Photo Series (up to five images) may be entered for $25 USD (additional categories $15 per series).
The competition is open to photographers worldwide, at any stage of their careers, with no restriction on age, nationality, or professional status. All entrants must submit original work for which they hold full rights.
“Strong photographs deserve more than a brief moment on a screen,” the Phi spokesperson added. “By combining clear judging, defined prizes and a serious annual publication, we want photographers to feel confident that if they enter their best work, it will be treated with respect.”
