Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma Suggests on Elon Musk's Wikipedia Offer

Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma sparks a new view with a suggestion to make a Wikipedia "equivalent reference point destination" to X and Tesla owner Elon Musk.

Delhi, India Oct 25, 2023 (Issuewire.com)  - Billionaire and the owner of X (formerly Twitter), Elon Musk has recently announced that he would like to pay a high bid of $1 billion if they change their name. He posted on X "I will give them a billion dollars if they change their name to Dickipedia," and further added that it is required "in the interests of accuracy." One of the users commented "@Wikipedia, Do it! You can always change it back after you collect," Musk Quickly replied, "One year minimum. I mean, I'm a not fool lol." To this, Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma suggested that the founder of Tesla should help Wikipedia turn into "equivalent reference point destination" with the help of the microblogging site's Community Notes feature.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma wrote on X "Why not make a Wiki equivalent reference point destination, based on community notes? Open for web." This sparked a conversation between the x users and Musk regarding the differences between Community Notes and Wikipedia. Musk explained, "Wikipedia is inherently hierarchical and therefore subject to the biases of higher ranking editors, independent of their merits. @CommunityNotes requires people with historically different points of view, based on how they have rated and written Notes, to agree in order for Notes to be shown to the public. All code and data is open source, so you can recreate the outcome yourself.”

Being the shareholder of X, he further said, “Crucially, even I, as the controlling shareholder of the company, cannot change the outcome of a Note. This is an extremely fundamental difference." Musk agreed when another user said, "The real issue with Wiki is that for the editors, being a Wikipedia editor and racking up cred like Barnstars is *their entire life.*” This is not the first time but Musk has previously shared a screenshot of the homepage of Wikipedia and wrote, "Have you ever wondered why the Wikimedia Foundation wants so much money? It certainly isn't needed to operate Wikipedia. You can literally fit a copy of the entire text on your phone! So, what's the money for? Inquiring minds want to know …"
