New York City, New York Jun 28, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - HAYS CPA LLC is proud to announce that its Founder and CEO, Orumé Agbeyegbe Hays, CPA, CGMA, MST, has begun her term as President-Elect of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYCPA), effective June 1, 2026.
With her election, Hays becomes the first woman and the first CPA from Staten Island to serve as President-Elect in the organization's history. She is expected to assume the presidency of the NYCPA in June 2027.

The New York State Society of CPAs is one of the nation's leading professional accounting organizations, representing approximately 18,000 CPAs, attorneys, bankers, educators, students, and other professionals across New York State.

Hays is a nationally recognized accounting professional, educator, and business leader. In 2024, she was named to Forbes' inaugural list of America's Top 200 CPAs and was subsequently recognized among Forbes' Best-in-State CPAs in both 2025 and 2026. She has also been named one of the profession's Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Accounting for four consecutive years.
Her leadership within the accounting profession extends well beyond New York. She previously served as Chair of the American Institute of CPAs' Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) Executive Committee, becoming the first sole practitioner and first Black female CPA to hold that position. She currently serves as an At-Large Member of the AICPA Council and a member of the DCPA Advisory Board.
At the regional level, she serves as Regional Vice President for NABA's Eastern Region.
Within New York, Hays previously served as President of the NYCPA Manhattan/Bronx Chapter and has held numerous leadership positions within the Society over the past decade, including service on its Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and various committees dedicated to advancing the profession.
In addition to her professional leadership, Hays serves as an Adjunct Lecturer of Accounting at the College of Staten Island, where she is dedicated to educating and mentoring the next generation of accounting professionals.
