Orlando honors Richard Harary with Official City Day

Orlando, Florida Mar 5, 2026 (Issuewire.com)  - The City of Orlando will celebrate Brazilian-born entrepreneur Richard Harary with an official recognition as “Richard Harary Day,” observed on March 6, honoring his contributions to the local economy and community.

The proclamation, issued by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, recognizes Harary’s entrepreneurial journey and his impact on the city since moving to the United States from Brazil at the age of 18.

Harary’s story began while studying at the University of Central Florida, when he opened a luggage store that later evolved into a luggage delivery service at Orlando International Airport. Building on that success, he founded MacroBaby, which became one of the largest baby stores in the United States and a destination for families visiting Orlando from around the world.

Beyond business, the proclamation also highlights Harary’s philanthropic work in Central Florida. Through initiatives and partnerships with organizations such as Make-A-Wish and other community institutions, he has supported programs benefiting children and families in the region. He is also the founder of the MacroBaby Foundation, focused on charitable initiatives.

The City of Orlando recognized Harary for his entrepreneurial spirit, compassion, and commitment to strengthening the community. The official recognition reinforces the impact of immigrant entrepreneurs in shaping Orlando’s economy and cultural diversity, celebrating Harary’s journey from Brazil to becoming one of the city’s most prominent business leaders.
