Connecticut Business Consulting Firm Produces Weekly Video Series Teaching Black Economic History With Verified Sources and Little-Known Facts

New Haven, Connecticut Aug 29, 2026 (Issuewire.com)  - ABUNDANCE CONSULTING GROUP LAUNCHES "FOUNDATIONS: OUR ECONOMIC STORY," A WEEKLY BLACK HISTORY AND ECONOMIC POWER VIDEO SERIES

New Educational Series Explores African Economic History, Enslaved Labor's Role in Building America, and the Roots of Black Wealth From a Dignity-First Perspective

Abundance Consulting Group, a business consulting and credit restoration outsourcing firm based in New Haven, Connecticut, today announced the launch of Foundations: Our Economic Story, a weekly video and multimedia series dedicated to educating Black Americans about their economic history, contributions, and power.

The series, hosted by Arndra Durden Hatcher, founder of Abundance Consulting Group, publishes every Tuesday across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X. Each episode combines verified historical research, little-known facts, and dignity-first storytelling to illuminate the economic legacy of African and African-descended people from ancient civilizations to the present day.

"This series exists so Black people can learn, with dignity and depth, who we are and what power we already possess," said Arndra Durden Hatcher, founder of Abundance Consulting Group. "Understanding where we came from economically is not separate from building wealth today. It is the foundation of it."

SERIES HIGHLIGHTS

Episodes published to date include:

Episode 1: Why This Series Exists, an introduction to the series and the economic case for Black historical literacy, including verified data on African American buying power reaching approximately $2.1 trillion in 2021 (Selig Center for Economic Growth, University of Georgia, 2023).

Episode 2: Before the Ships, African civilizations, trade networks, and commerce before the Atlantic slave trade. The episode covers the Wagadu/Ghana empire, the gold-salt trade routes, the Wangara merchant network, the city of Timbuktu as both a commercial and academic hub, and East African ports including Kilwa Kisiwani and Great Zimbabwe.

Episode 3: The Builders, the verified economic contributions of enslaved Africans and their descendants to the early American economy. The episode documents that the Carolina rice economy was built on West African agricultural science (Judith Carney, Black Rice, Harvard University Press, 2001), that the White House and United States Capitol were constructed using enslaved labor, and that Philip Reid, an enslaved ironworker, assembled the Statue of Freedom atop the Capitol dome in 1863 while his enslaver collected his wages (U.S. Capitol Historical Society; Jesse J. Holland, Black Men Built the Capitol, 2007).

EDUCATIONAL MISSION

Foundations: Our Economic Story is produced as a free public educational resource. Each episode includes a full written transcript in the video description for accessibility, sourced historical facts with publication dates, and a reflective question designed to connect historical knowledge to present-day economic decision-making.

The series follows a chronological arc beginning with African civilizations and progressing through enslaved labor, resistance economies, emancipation, Reconstruction, Black towns and mutual aid societies, early Black banking and insurance, Black Wall Street, the Great Migration, civil rights and economic access, and modern Black economic power.

"Most people only encounter Black economic history in fragments," said Hatcher. "We are building the full picture, week by week, with sources. Because when you know what your people built, you take ownership seriously."
