Delhi, India Oct 2, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - A one-day National level Conference on Nutrition titled “School Swasthya Panchayat 2024” was organized on 28th September 2024 at Vivanta by Taj, Surajkund by SHARP NGO, India’s largest school health network working pan India since 1999. The event was to mark the 25 years of service in the field of ‘School Health’ by the NGO. It aims to improve the nutritional outcomes of adolescents, children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The event was attended by over 300 delegates comprising nutritionists, doctors, academicians, policymakers, students, teachers, Government, CSR, and health professionals from various parts of the country. During the inaugural session of the event, Sh. Shiv Ram Bairwa, Registrar, NCALT, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, informed that the Government is in the process of preparing Vision Document 2047, a way forward to make India a well-developed country, and to achieve this goal, the necessary roadmap towards the eradication of malnutrition by 2030 is a key priority for the country. Dr. Puran Prakash, founder of SHARP NGO, gave the opening speech at the event.
The School Swasthya Panchayat 2024 conference was more than just another health event. It was curated using the innovative Panchtattva strategy, a unique approach that leverages schools to reach the community and improve the health of children and their families. This strategy was the cornerstone of the conference, featuring discussions on combating malnutrition, cyber addiction, and other health issues, as well as engaging segments such as an award ceremony and cultural performances.
Several students, teachers, schools, corporate organizations, and individuals were felicitated with School Health Awards for their exemplary work in school health.
Speaking on occasion, Ms Menaka Sharma, Director of the School Health Annual Report Programme (SHARP), emphasized the need to examine the reasons for and find solutions to school children's prevailing health problems.
