National Boots on the Ground Day™ | May 27

Activist Dr. Greshun De Bouse, Founder

Los Angeles, California May 23, 2025 (Issuewire.com)  - National Boots on the Ground Day™ (May 27) is upon us.  American Activist Dr. Greshun De Bouse founded National Boots on the Ground Day™ in 2022 and publicized it in 2023.  Celebrated annually May 27, National Boots on the Ground Day™ was founded by De Bouse to commemorate the first known Black Rodeo in the U.S. on May 27, 1903; and to celebrate Black unity in cowboy culture and line dance, with emphasis on cowboy boot symbolism and evolvement of the phrase “boots on the ground” to signify unity among the Black race for positivity and productivity.  In addition, De Bouse founded National Boots on the Ground Day™ in conjunction with her line dance, Louisiana Lean Boots on the Ground (2022), which pays homage to her connection to Louisiana, commonly referred to as "The Boot".  National Boots on the Ground Day™ is one of many of Dr. De Bouse’s awareness holidays found in her book entitled “De Bouse Holidays” (2023), including Hand-Held Fan Day™ (August 3), which De Bouse established in 2022.  Both National Boots on the Ground Day™ and Hand-Held Fan Day™ may also be found online in their respective namesake books written by Activist Dr. Greshun De Bouse.  De Bouse, whose holidays always represent an important cause, was initially featured for one of her holidays in Chase's Calender of Events (2019), for which she was featured in Big Easy Magazine, and recognized by New Orleans Mayor Cantrell.  Inevitably, has skyrocketed since.

For National Boots on the Ground Day 2025, the focus is on celebrating Black unity in cowboy culture and artistic expression. This includes a contest with a written or video essay on the topic What National Boots on the Ground Day Means to Me. The essay contest is unique because the essay has no word minimum, but rather focuses on the impact of the essay.  Contest entries are accepted beginning May 22, 2025.  Participants must be ages 4 years and up, and may participate by following instructions on the National Boots on the Ground™ website to submit.  Persons who need accommodations to participate should reach out via the contact information on the website.

Notably, De Bouse is great great niece of Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and King of the Twelve String (guitar), Lead Belly (born in Louisiana) who significantly influenced country music by introducing a unique blend of blues, folk, and country styles, by sharing his extensive repertoire of traditional songs with the masses, and helping to preserve and promote Southern rural musical traditions. Activist Dr. De Bouse stems from a rich history and continues to improve the world via her global activism and establishment of some of the most important awareness holidays of all time.  Visit the official National Boots on the Ground Day™ website for more information on this awareness-raising holiday, and celebrate May 27.
