Washington, D.C, District of Columbia Dec 18, 2024 (Issuewire.com) - The two revered astronauts of NASA, Sunita Williams, and Butch Wilmore have been assigned to space missions for a long time now and their return home has been delayed again. With a new update, NASA has extended its space mission again. They would be able to get back on Earth until Spring which will make them stay for 10 months at the ISS or International Space Station. The delay of the astronauts’ homecoming was announced on Tuesday and this is not the first time. NASA has been pushing back the rescue mission from February to late March they asked for more time in order to complete the project and process a new SpaceX spacecraft which will be used in the mission.
It was Boeing's first astronaut flight which took off back on June 5 and two of the astronauts or test pilots were initially assigned for a 1-week project suddenly, what was supposed to end in 8 days is taking more than 8 months now. While there are no certain issues, NASA seems to be delaying on purpose. It decided to send its problem-plagued Starliner capsule back empty in September. And now, the astronauts would not be able to return until March or even April as there is a delay in launching and replacements.
According to NASA, a fresh crew needs to be launched to the ISS before planning for the return of Wilmore and Williams. The space agency also said the next mission has been bumped for next month. The original interstellar expedition was scheduled for a week but the constant delays it leading it to a year. SpaceX was scheduled for a Crew-9 mission where two seats were meant to stay empty so that it could bring back the space heroes from the ISS. Everyone is looking forward to seeing how long it takes.
