Montgomery, Alabama Oct 6, 2021 (Issuewire.com) - Roderick Robinson, best known as Duke The Guitarist, is an accomplished guitarist/bassist and music director for MAMA Inc. and Kirk Jay Music.
Duke was given his first opportunity to perform professionally at the age of 14, becoming the bass player for The J.D. Gospel Singers of Uriah, AL.
Duke started his full-time music career with Bay Minette Alabama native Kirk Jay. The band won several local band competitions and became very popular throughout Alabama, Florida, and Georgia. He gained mainstream recognition as a guitarist after performing alongside Kirk Jay for an initial audition for NBC's The Voice, where he received a standing ovation as a guitarist for a program focused solely on vocalists.
In 2019 Duke co-founded the multi-genre band Falsely Motivated. In 2021 he became a Josie Music Award nominee for Musician Of The Year. Associated acts include artists such as NBC’s The Voice Kirk Jay and MaKenzie Thomas. American Idol’s Kevin “Khule” Harris, Dwayne Crocker, and Laurel Taylor.
