Ashaneer – A Safe Haven, A New Beginning
Ashaneer is a pioneering initiative by Mahima India, dedicated to supporting children of sex workers and at-risk children in Kolkata’s Sonagachi area. Repatriation & Reintegration Services
Working with Child Welfare Committees, embassies, and international agencies, Mahima has helped safely repatriate girls from countries like Nepal and Bangladesh. Reintegration is carefully assessed and includes follow-up support, vocational training, and regular check-ins.
Transformational Impact
Since 2010, Mahima India has:
- Rehabilitated over 600 girls from trafficking and abuse
- Supported over 200 children in Sonagachi communities through Ashaloy
- Facilitated more than 50 successful repatriations to families across borders
- Trained 20 frontline workers in trauma-informed survivor care
