Cairo, Egypt Jul 20, 2026 (Issuewire.com) - Maestro George Kolta leads Afaq Art Production's new release "Bejamalen," both as conductor of his ensemble, Syncope Orchestra, and as the arranger behind the work — building on his earlier collaboration with the company on the 2023 poem "Althulathia" (The Trilogy).
George Kolta is an internationally respected figure who has worked with some of the biggest names in Arabic music, including Ragheb Alama, Ziad Rahbani, Tamer Hosny, Mahmoud El Esseily, Carole Samaha, Carmen Soliman, Abdullah Al Ruwaished, Aziz Maraka, Farah Al-Dibany, Nesma Mahgoub, and Faia Younan, among others. He has also composed soundtracks for numerous films and television series across the Arab world and works as a music producer overseeing complete musical productions — from composition and orchestral arrangement to recording, mixing, and mastering.
Kolta has conducted several choirs, including the Tioro choir and the Al-Nour Wal-Amal choir, as well as the choirs of All Saints Cathedral, and has served as guest conductor for major orchestras, from the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Orchestra to the Tunisian National Orchestra, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and the Munich Orchestra, where he also performed as a pianist in renowned works such as Carmina Burana. Among his notable achievements, he composed and led the operetta "Misr El Tareeq" in collaboration with Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, as well as arranging and leading the "Cinemania" project with Nesma Mahgoub.
Kolta founded his own ensemble, Syncope Orchestra, as a platform for his artistic vision. What began as a small group with a big dream has succeeded in combining three distinct orchestral traditions in a single work — classical, ensemble, and Eastern/Arabic — a blend that looks effortless to the audience but is, in reality, a demanding feat requiring seamless coordination among its different elements, whether in live concerts or television programs.
In "Bejamalen," Maestro Kolta and his orchestra put this philosophy in the service of a qasida written and composed by Sheikh Abd Al-Ghani Al-Umari Al-Hasani, through an orchestral arrangement that preserves the spirit of the text while giving it a contemporary character that combines a range of Eastern and Western elements.
