Lt. Governor to Present Washingtonian of the Year and Washington Organization of the Year Awards

Seattle, Washington Feb 11, 2019 (Issuewire.com)  - Lt. Governor Habib will present the Washingtonian of the Year Award and the Washington Organization of the Year Award at the state Capitol.

This year, Mimi Siegel will receive the Washingtonian of the Year Award for her 40 years of service leading Kindering, the largest and most comprehensive neurodevelopmental center in the Northwest.

On Siegel’s selection, the Lt. Governor said, “When Mimi joined Kindering, it was a modest non-profit in Bellevue serving a small group of local families. Now, Kindering changes lives by the thousands throughout our state with its enlightened approach to intervention through education and therapy for children with disabilities. In her career, Mimi has exemplified the compassion, confidence, and determination that makes us proud to recognize her as ‘Washingtonian of the Year.’”

The 2019 Washington Organization of the Year is Treehouse, a Seattle-based nonprofit organization known for effectively reducing the graduation gap between foster youth and their peers in Seattle and throughout the state.

“Treehouse was selected for the Organization of the Year Award based on its tireless commitment to building a more equitable system for foster kids throughout our state,” said Mike Flood, VP of Community Relations for the Seattle Seahawks and Chair of the Association of Washington Generals. “Treehouse’s efforts to create a world in which every child – regardless of where they grow up — has the opportunity to pursue their dreams gets to the heart of what this award represents.”

The Association of Washington Generals, a non-profit organization codified into state law by the Legislature in 2005, will host the annual awards ceremony at which the awards will be given.
