LSS creates new podcast, In the Ring with Héctor Colón, featuring respected leaders delivering solutions for the future

Guests address pressing issues in the sector and provide practical ways social services organizations can empower the vulnerable populations they serve

Milwaukee, Wisconsin Mar 15, 2022 (Issuewire.com)  - Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan (LSS) is launching its first-ever podcast on Wednesday with Héctor Colón, President and CEO, serving as host. In the Ring with Héctor Colón expands the social services conversation around barriers to progress for sector leaders with experts in social services, government, philanthropy, healthcare, business, and public policy. With LSS observing its 140th year of service, Colón will draw from the organization’s proven track record and expertise to offer additional knowledge and perspective about this sector.

In the Ring with Héctor Colón gets real with high-impact leaders about their challenges with systemic barriers that perpetuate stigma, devalue social programs, and ultimately prevent community-based organizations – and the people they serve – from thriving. Two of Héctor’s first guests include Susan Dreyfus, former President and CEO of Alliance for Strong Families and Communities – now Social Current – and Tracy Wareing Evans, President, and CEO of the American Public Human Services Association. Topics range from financial turnaround and mergers to data sharing and neuroscience.

Each monthly episode of In the Ring with Héctor Colón addresses the what, why, and how of creating opportunities for social services organizations to succeed and ultimately elevate their status to match that of primary care. The podcast also strives to help listeners learn and grow and develop an understanding of what it takes to alleviate problems that prevent vulnerable populations, providers, communities, and themselves from living their best lives.

Colón and his guests invite listeners to get involved and take a Servant-Leadership approach to invest their individual self into the greater good of the community around them. Ideas and resources surrounding education and advocacy are discussed during the episodes and through follow-up articles on www.lsswis.org/inthering.

The first two episodes of In the Ring with Héctor Colón will drop on Wednesday, March 16th at 12 p.m. CDT, with one episode released every third Wednesday of each month thereafter. Each episode will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and many other places you find podcasts. You can also watch a video version of each episode on the LSS YouTube channel.
