Los Angeles, California Mar 18, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - The acclaimed makeup studio and academy, Osyley’s Masters of Beauty, turned its downtown location into a temporary makeshift protective face mask factory. The business took the measures in order to manufacture and give away protective face masks to Los Angeles residents in need of minimizing exposure to coronavirus.
“We are trying to do our part to help, and we are definitively prioritizing giving the masks to senior citizens as well as at-risk people and emergency personnel.” says the studio’s owner, Osiris Ley. “We are grateful to have a lot of our students volunteering towards this cause.”
The face masks are handmade from thick cloth and elastic by a team of volunteers, which so far has been able to make a few hundred masks in just a couple of days. The handmade masks are not yet rated by the FDA. “We’re following best common-sense practices. Wearing something to protect your nose and mouth is ultimately better than not wearing anything at all.”
Osyley Masters of Beauty is currently looking for volunteers to help assemble the masks, as well as donations of cloth, elastic and thread. “The face masks will continue to be made in our space, until we feel a good enough supply of protective masks are in the hands of our at-risk and underserved communities,” states Ley.
