In a collaborative book published by the Women Speakers Association, Johns is featured among forty authors from around the globe. Voices of the 21st Century: Resilient Women Who Rise and Make a Difference showcased Johns' poem, "What Matters," on the Dedication page of the book. This highly acclaimed poem also appears in Poetic Forecast. In the chapter entitled, "Invisible No More," Johns shares her background and retells a story involving an essential services employee and a gravely ill COVID-19 patient. According to Johns, this heartwarming story (previously told by CNN Religion Editor Daniel Burke) embodies her values and message. Through prose Johns weaved that story of compassion with her poetry, shining light on resilience at Florida's Dr. P. Phillips Hospital.

On February 23rd, Voices of the 21st Century became an International #1 Bestseller, making Zaneta Varnado Johns a 2-time Bestselling Author in two months. Johns' light is vastly visible in her second act. "I'm honored and grateful to allow God's bright light to shine through me. The time for poetry is now! Our words matter. I'm simply doing what God has ordered me to do," Johns said. She shared that she recently wrote a moving tribute honoring Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman; it will be included in her next collection of poetry.
